12.05.2018 Vonitsa

2018
Quiet night, if we
talk about the weather, but noisy if we talk about the surroundings: we are right
in front of a bar that is also a disco, and this until 6 am. Jens and Catherine
ride to buy the bus tickets for tomorrow, but as we are in Preveza we can’t buy
tickets from Vonitsa, the town where we will leave Hera II, and yet the Preveza
bus passes Vonitsa. While they both are away, I start cleaning up. They come
back and we leave. Vonitsa is on a big fjord, several tens of kilometers long
and it is pleasant and relaxing to sail there. It takes us two hours and we arrive
around noon. We see a free space and a mooring, this rope that is connected to
a chain or a block of concrete at the bottom. We take it, and it is full of
mussels, but we realize that it is already taken by the neighboring yacht.
Catherine has already jumped on land, she stays there and Jens and I leave, put
the anchor behind and come back. Catherine catches our lines and that's it.
Vonitsa is pretty, beautiful colorful facades and is dominated by an old fort.
We go to the beach but have to be careful, there are sea urchins in the water.
Lunch at the boat and, in the afternoon, we walk to buy the bus tickets. Spyros comes and he and Jens talk about technique. Spyros lives in Vonitsa
and can keep an eye on Hera II while waiting for the next users, Jørgen and
Svein who are coming in a week, that's fine. We are all three cleaning, Jens
puts the zodiac on the bridge and, Catherine and I are fetching water with a 20
l can. We take turns and manage to fill the tank. For the last evening, we dine
at a restaurant on the waterfront. We leave Hera II in better condition than we
found her, thanks to Jens. Despite some technical problems, we are very happy
with this good and long "båttur".
