Dimanche 15 avril 2018

We operate a little slowly, a little tired, so we appreciate even more to borrow a car today. Nikos and Athena are not at the Taverna but have left the car and the keys for us. We drive to the monastery which is about ten km from here. This monastery is empty now and the last monk left at least 50 years ago but it's open for visits some Sundays of the year. The large church is in the middle of a square courtyard and is surrounded on all four sides by a cell gallery where the monks lived. The church is richly decorated. We can visit the refectory and the guardian offers us a glass of wine, a piece of cake and a loukoum. He doesn’t live in the monastery but in the village of Psara. We also admire the remains of terraces cultivated by the monks before, they produced all their food here. When we get back to Psara, we want to fill up with gasoline to thank Nikos and Athena but the station is closed. After lunch, I go and  see the ferry "Psara Glory" that is leaving soon. Jens looked on the Internet and this ferry is Danish and was called before "Ane Læsø". After a walk in the village, I make the blog and Jens works “a little”: today, he repairs the anemometer, puts in place an in/out thermometer and installs two small solar panels, and then, as he has a little time left, he puts some more fuses. We are having dinner tonight with Nikos and Athena, they invite us despite our protests. They tell us about their installation here, in 2015, with the good sides but also the difficulties to be accepted in a small community, Psara has only 300-350 inhabitants. Very good evening that passes quickly and we return to the boat at 1 am. The wind has risen and is blowing hard from the northeast, so pushes us against the dock. I put all the fenders and it’s OK, the harbor is well protected from the north wind but Hera II moves a little and the wind is making noise. Jens falls asleep quickly but it takes me a little longer to fall asleep.
