Samedi 14 avril 2018
Bain assez rapide, l’eau me parait

Very good weather,
north wind F 3-4 so Hera II has it in the nose and, in addition we have the cockpit
south, in the sun. Jens goes to find bread and buys honey at the same guy than
last time. We have breakfast in the sun. We get acquainted again with Psara
where we already have been twice with our Maja in the spring of 2016. We go up
to the old windmill and the hill behind and then go down again by the church of Saint Nicholas. We walk to see the beach at the bottom of the monastery but it
is exposed to the wind and it’s a little bit cold. On the other hand, it’s good
for the pieces of glass. We return by the small streets in the village and go
back to "our" beach. Quick bath, the water seems cold but the
thermometer shows 18 ⁰, the same as in Lavrion. On our way home we meet Jenny
who was a cook at the taverna. She gives us a kiss and makes us understand that
we have to wait. She goes inside her house and comes out a few minutes later
with a plastic box full of food, she does not speak English but we understand
that it is sheep. That makes our lunch, a good stew of mutton with rice. To
burn those calories, we ride our bikes and head for the lighthouse. It is far
away, it goes up ... and today was to be a calm day after our long crossing
yesterday. We recognize the road and the place where we went down in the bed of
a small river to go to the beach at the bottom of the lighthouse. Back to Hera
II, blog for me and DIY for Jens, then dinner at the taverna. We invite a young
teacher, with whom we spoke a little last night, to join us, but he has already
dined. He tells us that he has been teaching for 10 years and is still a
substitute, paid 10 months a year, without health insurance and without
retirement. The Ministry of Education no longer offers fixed positions, so they
save money. They say it's the fault of the troika, IMF, World Bank and Germany
(I think), but is it true ... What a life. We speak with Nikos and Athena about
visiting a monastery tomorrow, at the tip of the island and they offer us their
car, that’s very nice.
Giroflées? Wallflowers?
