Bon petit-déjeuner, avec même un œuf à la coque puisque c’est dimanche, puis nous partons de Loutra à 9 h 30. Le temps est plus calme qu’hier, gris et un vent stable, au moins en direction et varie entre F 3 et 4 en force, idéal. Nous hissons les voiles et Catherine barre. Elle est une ancienne championne de dériveur et barre tout en finesse, en suivant le vent. Et, ce qui nous surprend, Hans, Ragnhild et moi qui connaissons bien Jens, c’est qu’elle donne des ordres à Jens (par exemple de lâcher la grand-voile ou de border le foc) et il le fait ! Nous avons quelques heures de pur plaisir, à la voile. Et Hera II s’avère être un excellent voilier : elle va à 7 nœuds avec un vent de F 3 ou 3,5, c’est, nous semble-t-il, une bonne performance. Mais le vent tombe et il nous faut démarrer le moteur. Nous allons à Hydra et quand nous arrivons sommes surpris par la beauté de ce port. C’est un vieux port fortifié et la ville est autour, en amphithéâtre. Le port est presque plein, mais nous trouvons une place au quai en ville. Selon la tradition, nous prenons un ankerdram et allons découvrir la ville. Il n’y a pas de voiture, les rues étant trop étroites ou en escaliers. Des ânes assurent le transport des marchandises. Jolie ville, fleurie et bien entretenue et bien touristique. Mais il se met à pleuvoir. Il est 19 h30 et Hans et Ragnhild nous invitent à un bon restaurant. Mais ils n’ont pas de metaxa, le cognac grec. Donc nous rentrons le prendre au bateau. Nous discutons et mentionnons notre passage du canal de Corinth en venant, le mardi, le canal fermé qui allait ouvrir à 16 h30, puis à 17 h 30 puis … Et nous réalisons que nous allons le passer mardi, le jour de sa fermeture ! Nous avions oublié. Changement de plan, nous allons le passer demain, Hans et Ragnhild doivent être à Athènes mercredi.

Good breakfast with a boiled egg because it’s Sunday, then we leave Loutra at 9:30 am. The weather is quieter than yesterday, gray and stable wind, at least in direction and varies between F 3 and 4 in strength, ideal. We hoist the sails and Catherine is steering. She is a former dinghy champion and is steering in finesse, following the wind. And, what surprises us, Hans, Ragnhild and I who know Jens well, it is that she gives orders to Jens (for example to let go the mainsail or to tighten the jib) and he does it! We have a few hours of pure pleasure, sailing. And Hera II turns out to be an excellent sailboat: she reaches a speed of 7 knots with a wind of F 3 or 3.5, it seems to us a good performance. But the wind dies and we have to start the engine. We go to Hydra and when we arrive, are surprised by the beauty of this harbor. It is an old fortified harbor and the city is around, in amphitheater. The harbor is almost full, but we find a place at the dock in town. According to tradition, we take ankerdram and walk to discover the city. There is no car, the streets are too narrow or are stairs. Donkeys transport the goods. Pretty city, flowery and well maintained and manyl tourists. But it starts to rain. It is 7:30 pm and Hans and Ragnhild invite us to a good restaurant. But this restaurant doesn’t have metaxa, the Greek cognac. So we go back to the boat to get one. We discuss and mention our passage of the Corinth canal coming east, on Tuesday, the closed canal that was supposed to open at 4:30 pm, then at 5:30 pm and then ... And we realize that we are planning to pass the canal on Tuesday, when it’s closed! We had forgotten. Change of plan, we will pass it tomorrow, Hans and Ragnhild must be in Athens on Wednesday.
